Processing, Personal Power and Purpose
With Lisa Dumas, Saturday, November 9th- 3-4:30pm
Service Description
By donation to AWARE Juneau: a non-profit organization that exists to provide safe shelter and supportive services for survivors of domestic or sexual violence; and to effect the social, political, and legal changes needed to eliminate oppression, gender violence, and violence against children. No matter your personal reaction to current events, there is no question many of us feel the weight of division in our country and community. One of the most important ways we experience contentment as human beings is through feeling connected to others, so it is naturally confronting when our culture encourages us to disconnect from each other rather than move closer with curiosity and compassion. Cultivating present-centered awareness and practicing embodiment (being in our body) through movement and mindfulness might support us in recognizing, naming and honoring what we feel, so that we can reconnect to who we are and what we value. Looking within and pausing with self-care can help us to direct our emotions into empowering action rather than depleting disconnection and isolation. Our community needs the unique actions that can only come from each of our specific gifts and capabilities (when and if it is safe enough for us to do so). Making space for our feelings to flow can help us reclaim our personal power and do what we can for the collective good, which can mean finally starting that compost, volunteering at a local non-profit, or reaching out to someone who needs support right now. You are invited to a pop up gathering this Saturday with the intention of creating space for personal processing, intentional movement, the cultivation of compassion and rest. What to expect: -A mindfulness meditation for acknowledging and holding your emotions with love and care. -An exploration of the power of personal intention and reconnecting to present-centered awareness. -Movement to encourage the flow of emotions. Emotion = “energy in motion” -A powerful reflection to feel connected with others -A guided rest utilizing imagery to invoke a reconnection with compassion for ourselves and others. This class is payable by donation, either at the door or at the link below. https://giving.awareak.org/give/320556/#!/donation/checkout
